Echos - (a story about CPTSD and Dissociation) Student/Thesis Film 2024

This project is a deeply personal animated short film that delves into the complex world of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). This hand-drawn 2D animation follows a character navigating the disorienting effects of dissociation and flashbacks triggered by past trauma. Through a blend of abstract landscapes and intimate moments, the film captures the inner turmoil and resilience that come with living with CPTSD.

From the initial concept to the final animation, every frame was crafted with intention and care. Inspired by my own experiences and artistic influences, the visual style combines the bold lines of comic art with the soft, dreamlike textures reminiscent of vintage animation. The backgrounds, inspired by shows like Steven Universe, were meticulously designed to create a cozy yet surreal atmosphere, using tools like The Sims 4 for layout concepts and Adobe Illustrator for the final touches. In addition, this film was entirely animated by hand in Procreate Dreams.

The film's soundscape, composed entirely by me, underscores the emotional journey with a mix of piano melodies, woodwinds, and strings, enhancing the narrative's depth and authenticity. This project is not just a film; it's a reflection of my journey as an artist and as someone who has lived with CPTSD. It’s a story about acceptance, healing, and the ongoing battle to find peace amidst chaos.

I invite you to watch the film and immerse yourself in this story of struggle, resilience, and self-discovery. If you're interested in collaborating on future projects or would like to learn more about my work, please feel free to reach out. I’d love to hear from you and explore how we can create meaningful stories together.
